COURSE: Translating and Interpreting Business Discourse

Claudio Bendazzoli is Assistant Professor of English Language and Translation at the Department of Economic, Social, Mathematical and Statistical Sciences of the University of Turin (Italy). Previously (2004-2011), he worked at the Department of Interpreting and Translation of the University of Bologna at Forlì, where he obtained an MA in Conference Interpreting (Italian, English, Spanish) and a PhD in Interpreting Studies.

He was part of the team that developed the European Parliament Interpreting Corpus (EPIC) and the Directionality in Simultaneous Interpreting Corpus (DIRSI-C).

Between September 2007 and January 2020 he was member of the Erasmus+ project “Transnational Alignment of English Competences for University Lecturers” (TAEC) and contributed to the creation of a literature database relating to English Medium Instruction (EMI) and a corpus of EMI lectures.

His main research interests are Interpreting Studies, Corpus Linguistics, Theatre and Interpreter Training, Ethnography of Speaking, English as a Lingua Franca, Business English, and English Medium Instruction. He also works as a freelance translator and interpreter.
