Rocco Antonio Cangelosi, Ambassador and Diplomatic Councellor, has been working in the field of diplomacy and negotiation since 1969. He was Diplomatic Councellor for the President of the Italian Republic and Director of Diplomatic Affairs for the Presidency from June 2008 to July 2010.
He worked as a diplomat in a role which comprised several tasks. He worked specifically on the European integration processes.
He acted as the Personal Representative of the Foreign Minister (1990-1992) during the Intergovernmental Conference for the Maastricht Treaty and he worked on the Constitutional Treaty in 2002. From 2004 to 2008 he was the Permanent Representative at the European Union in Bruxelles.
During his diplomatic career, he also worked in Bern, Basel, Mogadishu and Tunis.
He is one of the members of the “Commissione Affari Diplomatici” of the Italian Diplomatic Academy and he has been Knight of the Great Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic since 2007.
Among his publications are several volumes and articles (Dal Progetto di Trattato Spinelli all’Atto Unico Europeo (1987) e Dalla Comunità all’Unione (1996).
